Game On: MOPS
Do you remember the first time you ever played “The Game of
Life” as a little girl? There was the excitement of selecting a pink car or
blue car in which to place your little pink stick figure and travel about the
board. Then there were the exciting milestones of getting married and having
children, further adding more pink and blue stick figures to your car. Remember
fantasizing about those things being a reality, and how romantic it all seemed?
Oh, how fabulous life would be if all we had to do was spin a wheel full of
numbers and let it determine our perfect path through life.
Well, real life isn’t like that. But there is good news! Another MOPS year is beginning, and you don’t have to travel the road of life alone! We, Jessica Reade (1/3) and Shanna Beachy (2/4), are your Christ Community Church MOPS Coordinators for the 2011-2012 year. It is extremely exciting to begin thinking about this year’s MOPS International theme of MOMSENSE: Loving-Bold-Sensible. How awesome would it be if twenty years from now our kids used these adjectives to describe us as mothers!

We are anticipating a wonderful year of connecting with other
moms and mentors, creating some incredible crafts, and exploring and refining
our roles as moms of preschoolers. There is a line-up of outstanding speakers
and panels with ideas and wisdom to share on life, marriage, and parenthood.
Our hope is that every other Friday you will be able to get a little break,
relax (knowing your children are being loved, cared for and having a fabulous
time just a few steps away), laugh, cry if you need to, learn, and leave
feeling recharged and inspired to continue on in your own game of life!
We’re praying that MOPS will be a huge blessing to you this year!

“Mentor's Favorite Things…”
“My favorite date with my husband is our "Progressive
Date" - we do this about once a year, either on our anniversary or on one
of our birthdays. We have a date
that "progresses" from one location to another. We'll start off with appetizers at one
restaurant and then go someplace (shopping, Lauritzen Gardens, for a walk, Old
Market) for a few hours. Following
that we will find a movie we've both wanted to see and follow that with dinner
at a different restaurant. Then we
finish our date with one last stop for dessert. My birthday this year went like this: Shucks for lunch, shopping at Legacy
& Regency, Captain America, Stokes for dinner and Red Mango for
dessert. Organizing childcare can
be the trickiest (and costliest) part of the date (why not try and swap days
with another couple) - but the other pieces do not have to be expensive. Spending undivided time with your
husband can't be beat!” -Kris Morrissey (2/4 Mentor)
